2025 Report on the GBV of Rohingya Women and Girls《Trapped in Silence》
This report was produced with the valuable support of "Gwangju Human Rights Peace Foundation", "The Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan", and "Sun Pro Bono Center".
Throughout 2025, ADI and the Rohingya Human Rights Center (RHRC) documented the realities of gender-based violence faced by Rohingya women and girls in the Cox’s Bazar refugee camps in Bangladesh through a survey of 1,003 participants and 26 in-depth interviews.
The report reveals that various forms of violence—including domestic violence, sexual violence, forced and child marriage, and economic control—are pervasive in daily life in the camps, with the home often becoming the most dangerous place for women and girls. It also highlights how structural factors such as extreme poverty, lack of services, camp overcrowding, and the influence of armed groups further exacerbate violence.
Through this report, ADI calls for expanded protection and support for survivors, guaranteed access to education and livelihood opportunities for women and girls, and responsible action and institutional reforms by the international community.
